Microscope Service and Repairs
Welcome to the home of Morehill Technology.
We have been involved in the Service and Repair of Laboratory Equipment for many years, and strive to achieve excellence in the Field of Microscopy
Morehill Technology was founded in 1987 to address the shortcomings in the Laboratory Service Industry. Morehill Technology is a leading provider of laboratory and scientific products and services.
Our company is glad to offer you a wide variety of high-quality scientific services including supply of any necessary lab equipment. We also provide a variety of service solutions based on four criteria : positive ecological impact, product performance, client service, and value.
As with any medical equipment, it’s of vital importance to regularly service your microscope instrument so it remains in the best working condition for its best optical performance. A misaligned or dirty lensed microscope will not only affect the user’s ability to view their specimen, but can also be detrimental to their eyesight.
We at Morehill Technology have over 35 years experience in servicing and repair of microscopes across Gauteng, South Africa. We are aware how crucial it is to have clean, well prepared equipment to ensure users are able to work efficiently. Whether you are using dissecting stereo microscopes, upright compound microscopes, inverted microscopes or even student microscopes we have the skills and knowledge to make a difference.
As we are fully trained in all forms of microscopy, this gives us the ability to help you achieve the best results possible with all your optical instruments. More complex systems such as DIC, Phase Contrast, Polarizing and Fluorescence will benefit from being expertly serviced and precisely aligned to achieve optimum results.
We do on-site servicing with annual contracts or one-off visits allowing minimal interruption to the end user. Alternatively, where on-site visits are unsuitable, we are happy to receive microscopes via courier or hand delivered to be serviced in our workshop before being returned to you in excellent condition and ready to use.
We also carry out repairs and modifications to all makes and models of microscopes no matter how old they are.
Part of what we do includes the following
A full optical clean.
A full body framework clean.
An inspection of the rack and pinion mechanism and adjustment where necessary.
An inspection of the stage mechanism and adjustment where necessary.
Removal of grease and debris which is then replaced with new lubricant.
A full inspection of the assembled microscope with adjustments and re-alignments made where
necessary.
Any parts or mechanisms deemed by the engineer to be worn/faulty/defective or having an adverse effect on the performance of the instrument would be brought to the attention of the person(s) at point of contact.
If required, a pre-calibrated (NPL) slide will be placed on the stage and using each individual objectives, a reading will be taken using the eyepiece graticule. A certificate of the results and the calibration slide used will then be sent.
Clean the work area and remove all tools
Inform the customer of any modifications, repairs, issues whilst on site. If the customer is not available a summary will be sent via email
Inform the main contact / user of any further training that is required before use of the instrument can begin. This is usually agreed prior to installation and would involve a visit from the imaging or sales manager. Failure to comply with this recommendation, which subsequently results in damage to the instrument, will invalidate the warranty for that specific repair
Offer advice in order to help the customer obtain the most from the instrument, including settings, basic maintenance and any new features.
